Canon Firmware Update for EOS-1Dx

Canon released an important update to the firmware on it's EOS-1DX Body today. Addressed are the following improvements:

1. Auto focusing performance under low-light conditions has been enhanced when performing focusing before shooting in AI Servo AF mode. The enhancement comes from the improvement in tracking capability for the first image in the low-light conditions.
2. The number of release parameters settings for the "AI Servo AF 2nd image priority" AF function has been increased to enable improved AF tracking in low light or maintain consistent high frames rates during continuous shooting.
3. The number of parameters for acceleration/deceleration tracking in the AF Configuration Tool will has been increased.
4. Exposure compensation can be performed when using manual exposure and ISO Auto.
5. The minimum shutter speed limit for ISO Auto has been increased with shutter speeds up to 1/8000.
6. A new function to keep the exposure constant by altering the ISO or shutter speed in manual exposure, when the aperture value changes when zooming or changing lenses has been added.
7. A new option has been added to orientation linked AF point to enable only the AF point to switch as you change orientation rather than both AF point/ AF area settings
8. A new option to continue to use the previously manually selected AF point as the initial starting AF point when switching to 61-point automatic selection has been added.
9. New customization of the Exposure metering and AF controls has been added for more flexibility.
10. The number of possibilities for controls to switch between one-shot AF and AI Servo AF using custom controls has been increased.
11. A function has been added to allow the playback and review of protected images only.
12. A phenomenon has been fixed in which the white balance may be disturbed by the timing of the shutter release when the drive mode is single shooting and a flash (E-TTL)is used

High Octane Heaven

Visit to Interstate motorsports

Interstate Motorsport is a high end reseller of High End luxury vehicles as well a climate controlled collector car storage and detailing services. Discussions have been made with Steve Waldie, owner of Interstate Motorsport, to set up a permanent photo area for his and our use. The goal is for us to bring in exotic car clubs and have Shine, Show & Shoot events. We will also be hosting Photographer events to come shoot exotic cars with models for a pay event at least twice this year. Keep an eye out for those events.

As it stands right now, Interstate Motorsport will be Slama's Photography home base. We are free to hold events and meets at any time. Should we have success with the events we may be able to set up a proper photo booth, beyond what Steve and I have initially planned.
This visit found us face to face with a beautiful Yellow Ford GT along with the world famous Salamone Chrome Lamborghini Aventador.

Other amazing cars were a Cadillac Hennessey CTS-V R. Which is absolutely incredible and holds it's own in all of this exotic company and a pair of Porsche 911 GT3 RS, one in white and one in an anthracite finish.This is all just in the showroom. The other storage room has a Red Ford GT along with a Model T Ford and a nice Aprilia RSV Mille R, the list goes on and on.
The second floor is the man cave area. A kitchen and a den area with two large televisions and a fireplace. From the second floor you can walk over to the balcony area overlooking all of the cars.
Interstate Motorsport is just an amazing place to spend a day buying cars, looking at cars, having you car detailed or having your precious car photographed. You can buy parts for you car, have your car serviced, store your car, consign or sell your car as well.
We look forward to working with Interstate and we can't wait to see the next incredible car to drive into that building. I can't wait to go back.

Exoticars USA Open House

We caught word of a Fall Open House at Exoticars USA and decided to take a nice morning drive up to Milford New Jersey to hopefully see a few nice cars and some car owners. It was a beautiful fall day, a perfect day to stretch the legs of my project car a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo. On the way to ExoticarUSA we came across the Bucks County Exotic group on their monthly meet. How could we not stop by to see even more amazing cars. It was a great showing with a seriously nice variety of exotic and domestic pride.
We eventually left our new friends and continued on some amazing scenic roads towards our destination.
Sure enough these great roads lead to a beautiful facility with a parking lot overflowing with dream machines.
You really couldn't ask for a cooler location for an Exotic car shop. The changing leaves on the trees sure did hurt the atmosphere. Yellow and orange leaves set the back drop for these exotic beauties in some many different colors and models.
We eventually finished drooling outside and move to the lobby. AMAZING! The showroom was awesomely adorned with an automotive flair. Gas pumps, Lamborghini and Ferrari shields on the wall, a racecar and a flat track motorcycle to set the mood. Then we stumbled into the "engine room". A beautiful Lamborghini engine sat alone on a lift. Just an engine on a lift and it was gorgeous. The shop was spacious in size but packed with so many amazing cars. Show cars, cars in for repairs, a cool barn found Lamborghini Miura getting a full restoration, classic beauties from Ferrari and Lancia and a stunning Blue custom Maserati Roadster built by Wil de Groot.
So not only were the cars great but the people were great as well. Everyone very friendly and happy to talk about their cars and happy to have their cars photographed. We also had the pleasure to meet our hosts, Wil and Sandy de Groot, owners of Exoticars USA who were amazingly friendly and welcoming.
